// Overview

Turn-key ERRCS for a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical campus.

Pliant Therapeutics is a leading, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing new treatments for fibrotic diseases. The 134,237 sq ft facility includes a bio-tech/lab space, a courtyard, a car charging station, outdoor seating, and signage.

Howell Electric was selected to provide and install a Tri-Band Emergency Responders Radio Communication System (ERRCS) for a four-story commercial complex with a two-story parking garage. The ERRCS scope of work is turn-key — engineering, design, permit raceways, cabling, labor, and materials. Per Fire Code, the building must demonstrate acceptable radio coverage by passing a coverage test prior to occupancy.

The system consists of a Tri-Band amplifier (BDS) located in the garage level 1 electrical room that provides signal to levels 1–4. A network of antennas, including three rooftop antennas, is connected via coaxial cable to the amplifier output, which propagates the RF signal throughout the targeted areas. The rooftop antenna cable and all cable feeding risers are in two-hour rated pathways, and the amplifier and battery backup are also located in the garage level 1 electrical room. Per the new SSF ERRCS requirement, all passive antennas are monitored utilizing the Nuron DAS monitoring system.

Systems Delivered

01

Tri-Band BDA System

  • Turn-key engineering, design, permit raceways, cabling, labor, and materials for a Tri-Band Emergency Responders Radio Communication System (ERRCS).
  • Tri-Band amplifier (BDS) located in the garage level 1 electrical room, providing signal to levels 1–4, with co-located battery backup.
02

Antenna Network

  • Network of antennas — including three rooftop antennas — connected via coaxial cable to the amplifier output, propagating RF signal throughout the targeted areas.
  • Rooftop antenna cable and all cable feeding risers routed in two-hour rated pathways for code compliance and resilience.
03

Nuron DAS Monitoring System

  • Per the new South San Francisco ERRCS requirement, all passive antennas are monitored utilizing the Nuron DAS monitoring system.
  • Coverage test passed prior to occupancy to demonstrate acceptable radio coverage as required by Fire Code.
